Last week, Red Bull Racing announced that Adrian Newey will be leaving the team. This came as no surprise to anyone, and one wonders what Newey will do next. The top designer sat at the pit wall last weekend in Miami, but according to Christian Horner he did not participate in any important meetings.

Newey’s departure had been up in the air for a few days. The departure of the British top designer was leaked via Auto, Motor und Sport, and it soon became clear that it was serious. Red Bull confirmed the news last week, stating that Newey will leave in early 2025. Until then, he is busy with the RB17, which means he can quickly get started with a possible new employer.

Newey’s presence on the pit wall in Miami raised doubts. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner explained the situation to PlanetF1: “Adrian’s focus is now completely on the RB17. He has not been at any briefing this weekend, except for the strategy for the race. He no longer has access to our data , he is no longer signing parts and his focus is on the RB17 until the end of his contract. He will be present at some races between now and the end of the year, especially when we have RB17 customers.”
