Erik ten Hag can put a return to Bayern Munich out of his mind. According to the usually well-informed Christian Falk, the current coach of Manchester United is no longer on Bayern Munich’s list to succeed Thomas Tuchel, who is leaving after this season. Der Rekordmeister and Ten Hag did have discussions, but these will not be followed up.

The news about Bayern Munich’s search for a new head coach follows in rapid succession. Reported earlier this Tuesday BILD after all, Ten Hag was one of the three candidates on Bayern Munich’s list to succeed Tuchel next summer. The German newspaper wrote that Ten Hag had already spoken with his former employer about renewed cooperation and that in addition to the Dutchman, former Bayern coach Hansi Flick and Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi are also in the picture.

Ten Hag’s name has therefore been annulled. Reporter Falk van BILD reports on Tuesday evening that the former coach of FC Utrecht and Ajax, among others, is no longer a candidate to take Tuchel’s place after this season. The talks between Bayern and Ten Hag will not be continued. This means that Ten Hag can cross off one possible new employer. While it appeared last week that he would also be working at Manchester United next season, his position is again under enormous pressure after the hopeless 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Monday evening. According to British media, it is impossible that the Dutchman will still be on the bench at Old Trafford after the summer.

For Bayern Munich, the search for a new head coach continues unabated. Germany’s current number two has already had to swallow some disappointments in that quest. Xabi Alonso decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen for at least another year, Julian Nagelsmann preferred a longer stay with the German national team and Ralf Rangnick also has no interest in a position in the Allianz ArenA. That happened earlier this week the news about Julen Lopetegui on top. The Spaniard is said to have been approached by Bayern, but has set his sights on the position at West Ham United. The Londoners say goodbye to David Moyes. Lopetegui, who has worked for Real Madrid and Sevilla in the past, is in the picture to succeed Moyes.
