After three relatively flat days, a very interesting ride is scheduled for today in the Giro d’Italia. In a ‘mini-Strade Bianche’ the riders are faced with several unpaved strips. At Visma | Lease a Bike is (partly) aiming for the early flight.

One rider who will be given the freedom to attack is Tim van Dijke. The 24-year-old Dutchman, who is in his first Grand Tour, looked before the start with Cycling Pro Net forward. “It is a very beautiful experience. I started this Giro with a cold, but luckily I’m doing better now. We’ve already had some bad luck in this round, but that’s part of it.”

“It is an important day for the rankings,” Van Dijke continues. “There is wind and then you have the gravel strips. That will certainly cause chaotic moments. We’re going to try to sit on the flight. I have the freedom to join the flight.”

“If that doesn’t work, I will stay with Cian and try to support him all day. I think it’s the day before the flight. We’ll see, you always have to try,” Van Dijke sounds combative.
