It appears that PSV will part ways after this season. According to Football International the people of Eindhoven will not remove the option to purchase in the American’s rental contract.
Dest was a trendsetter at PSV this season and added a lot to the offensive game of the Eindhoven team. Partly for this reason, the national champion wanted to include the option in the rental contract with FC Barcelona. For this, the people of Eindhoven would have to put eleven million euros on the table.

Even after it became known that Dest had torn his anterior cruciate ligament, PSV intended to sign the American permanently. Brands recently said that he still wanted to add Dest to the selection for next season. However, this no longer seems to be the best option for all parties.
Dest is currently in America, where he will have surgery on his knee. He will then return to FC Barcelona on July 1, where he will continue his rehabilitation. It is most likely that Dest will serve out his contract with the Spanish top club, which runs until mid-June 2025. From the coming winter transfer window he can freely negotiate with other clubs.
