Update brings more overview to Google Calendar

There are only a handful of apps in the Play Store with billions of downloads and Google Calendar is one of them. Not surprising, of course, because the handy calendar app is pre-installed on tens of millions of devices. It’s nice that you can import multiple calendars, for example for work, your family or important sports matches.

There are also several ways to keep an eye on your appointment overview. You can choose an overview per day, three days, week and of course per month. Now a small update is rolling out, which will allow you to go to a specific month faster. This way you can check at a glance whether you already have something and whether there is room to plan a new appointment.

If you tap the name of the month at the top of Google Calendar, you used to see an overview of all the days of that month, with the corresponding weekdays and possibly the week number. If you wanted to make an appointment in a few months, or want to see if you were still free on a certain day, it was a matter of scrolling to the right dozens of times.

Much faster from month to month

Google Calendar monthly overview update

From now on, this is no longer necessary, because Google is making a nice adjustment. Monthly tabs have now been added below the overview of all days. Suppose it is April and you want to check whether you have something in October, then you no longer have to scroll, but just tap on the right tab.

You can easily skip forward six months via the tabs, but you can also scroll further quickly thanks to the horizontal bar. So if you want to check what you have planned in one or even two years, it will cost you much fewer swipes. It also works the other way around, because you can quickly jump back months to check what was in your agenda at that time.

All in all it’s a small one tweak to the nice calendar app. However, there are hundreds of alternatives available in the Play Store.
