Tech blog Digitimes reports that the Watch will have a new motherboard made of resin coated copper (RCC). This board is a lot thinner than before, making the entire Watch a lot thinner. Moreover, the production process is easier – although you probably won’t notice that from the price of the Watch.

There is also a possibility that Apple wants to use the extra space due to the thinner motherboard in a different way. Consider, for example, extra sensors or a larger battery – although rumors about the new design tend to point to a thinner chassis.

New name?

There is also some news about the name of the Watch. As mentioned, this concerns the Apple Watch exists, and because the abbreviation ‘SX’ is a bit unfortunate. It could also be that Apple just wants to level things out with the Ultra and SE, which also don’t have a ‘Series’ after their name.
