Meet has undergone a lot of changes lately.

This way I can now choose the right input for the microphone and camera without having to go to a menu, which has only been possible for a few weeks now. I work on 2 screens, a super ultrawide and my laptop screen, and for screen sharing I always share the entire laptop screen. Then I sit there looking at it and I want to be able to quickly switch the camera to the built-in webcam instead of the one on top of the ultrawide. This was not possible before (quickly/easily), but now it is.

The entire interface also had a makeover a while ago, and it also seems to me to be less resource heavy due to battery consumption, but that’s just a feeling.

What I still hate is that a shared screen is displayed so small (top bottom bar, browser interface such as address bar, and then a whole bunch of camera images of people). Furthermore, it is very strange that people are shown as rectangular, while their camera does not film that. So a piece is cut off, and sometimes that piece is actually important.

It would also help if I could get the shared screen into a 2nd window without bars around it. This is possible in Firefox with picture-in-picture (PIP) mode.

Where I work we recently switched from Zoom to Meet, because Zoom became too expensive and Meet was already included, but I still miss Zoom, especially the support for multiple monitors and the fact that it really is an app and doesn’t have a browser window a lot of. I sometimes have the urge to press cmd+q and close my browser completely
