You mean like Authy does? With just the 2fa/mfa keys? That is realistic. Since Authy has removed the desktop app from support, there is a gap to be filled. One point for improvement compared to authy: being able to determine a storage location yourself.

Or as more and more password systems (such as bitwarden itself) do, including the rest of your data? There, at bitwarden for example, I see the challenge. My bitwarden is blocked with mfa. Then it becomes a challenge if the mfa has to come from bitwarden. So yes, this app is welcome

Ultimately, the bitwareden authenticator app could use the bitwarden vault as sync. I don’t see a problem there, in fact, an MFA is welcome for sync. That the bitwarden authenticator app has its own local storage and only syncs after opening the bitwarden vault itself.

When I write that down I realize that after that all access codes are in the same bitwarden safe. Not everyone thinks that is safe. But that station has already been passed when the totp data could be stored in bitwards.

Fortunately, bitwarden can also be secured with a passkey… and also save and synchronize those passkeys… The cobweb of security methods is only getting bigger.
