1. Restaurant Dona: The Portuguese gem of Amsterdam
In the heart of Amsterdam, on the Nicolaas Beetsstraat, hidden behind a modest facade, you will find Restaurant DONA, an intimate living room restaurant with a passion for Portuguese cuisine. With only ten tables per evening, DONA offers an exclusive and personal dining experience.
Behind the stove is chef Diogo, whose love for cooking is inspired by his grandmothers, Tana & Tonica. From them he learned the secrets of Portuguese cuisine, which he now lovingly shares with his guests. The menu at DONA pays tribute to this culinary heritage. At the front of the restaurant, Sjors welcomes guests with warmth and hospitality, inspired by his own grandmothers, Bep and Nel. They were always convinced of Sjors’ passion for hospitality and his dream to one day open his own restaurant. Now, together with Diogo, those dreams have become reality at Restaurante DONA.
Fact: The tableware on which your Portuguese dish is served belonged to Diego and Sjors’ grandmothers. It can’t get more personal than that, right?
