It is not an easy year for Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag, it can be said. The home match against Burnley FC also did not go well. The home team did not get further than a 1-1. Antony scored a nice goal, but André Onana was a schlemiel with his action in the sixteen-meter area.

During the semi-final of the FA Cup, the Manchester club escaped in the 121st minute after opponent Coventry City saw a goal disallowed. United eventually won on penalties. In the match at Old Trafford against Burnley, Ten Hag’s formation was less fortunate. De Haaksberger is not happy with the arbitration’s actions.

“We put ourselves in a winning position and still gave it away. We dominated large parts of the match. Only in the second part of the first half did we give away chances, the rest of the game was ours,” said Ten Hag about the game image. “But on the other hand, I also saw at least three penalties, Garnacho should have got one. The arbitration was inconsistent. If you see what Wan-Bissaka received a penalty for last week, why not today?” the Dutchman wonders out loud.

Despite the 1-1, Ten Hag remains optimistic. “We are one of the most dynamic and entertaining teams in the league right now. We create a lot of chances and play good football,” said the coach, who sees that the gap to number four has now become very large. “It’s not easy to finish fourth when you’re so far behind. We should have won today. In recent weeks we have already handed over a victory more than once. The gap is too big at this stage of the season.”
