TVNetflix viewers are clearly captivated by the brand new series ‘3 Body Problem’. The new series from the makers of ‘Game of Thrones’ has been on the streaming service for barely one week and has already amassed more than 81,700,000 viewing hours.

‘3 Body Problem’ tells the story of Ye Wenji, who lost her father at a young age after he was murdered by the Chinese army. Now that she is older, she is drafted into the army herself, where she fights the greatest threats to our society. The series is based on the book of the same name by Liu Cixin and was released on the streaming service on March 21.

Many viewers are immediately impressed by the way the novel has been translated to the screen. With a whopping 11,000,000 views and 81,700,000 hours watched, ‘3 Body Problem’ is already in second place among the most watched TV shows in English in its first week. Currently, ‘The Gentleman’ retains the lead and is at number one with 11,700,000 views. Third and fourth in the top 10 are ‘Homicide’ with approximately 29,700,000 viewing hours and ‘Avatar The Last Airbender’ with 3,400,000 viewing hours. The series ‘Fool Me Once’ with 8,100,000 viewing hours and ‘One Day’ with 8,400,000 viewing hours were also able to gain a place in the list last week.

Flemish touch

The new science fiction series was directed by David Benioff, DB Weiss and Alexander Woo. It is striking that the series also has a Flemish touch, as the makers chose a song by the Flemish women’s choir Scala in the trailer, led by the brothers Steven and Stijn Kolacny. The leading roles are played by Saamer Usman, Jess Hong and Jovan Adepo, among others.
