In Sweden, Bram (31), known from the program ‘B&B Vol Liefde’, has built a peaceful and calm existence, but that is in stark contrast to his youth. In his autobiography ‘A wild life’, which was published on Monday, he talks for the first time about the difficult and unsafe period he went through.

“I was completely unhinged”

Bram said he had a ‘traumatic childhood’. “My mother has a mental disorder, borderline, and I never knew my father,” he says in an interview with Privately. Due to the lack of a responsible parent, he was completely dependent on himself. “As a result, I quickly matured through trial and error, mapped out my own life path and broke off all contact with her.”

Bram started living on his own at the age of nineteen. During that time he experienced ‘complete freedom’ for the first time. “After that, I did everything that God had forbidden. I was completely out of control.” Bram smoked cannabis, drank a lot and had many short-lived relationships. “I slept with someone else every weekend, or sometimes with more than one, and wore women out as quickly as I did with drink and drugs.” He linked that behavior back to his youth. “Living with my mother almost made me hate women,” he explains.

After Bram left the Netherlands to travel with a friend, they ended up in Sweden. There Bram found what he had always been looking for. “I feel at home in Sweden, no matter how deserted and quiet it can be. It is precisely because of that silence that I have learned to listen to myself. I love the space and beauty.” And nowadays he also has someone to share all that beauty with: his girlfriend Esra. “I am very happy with Esra and we complement each other well,” Bram concludes.

The two have known each other for a year and already have big plans for the future. “We are even thinking about starting a family, but we want to enjoy it together first. The B&B is running well and especially after the broadcasts I have become busy with guests. It is nice to see friends in my former hometown of Hardenberg every now and then.” , but I never want to live in the Netherlands again.”
