Broadcaster Max has won the battle of the talk shows on Friday evenings. Carrie ten Napel will do the honors in the 7 p.m. time slot in the new television season. Omroep WNL with Fidan Ekiz and Welmoed Sijtsma and VPRO with Nadia Moussaid also competed in vain for the spot on the eve.
The three broadcasters had to create a pilot and deliver it to the Dutch Public Broadcasting Service, which made the final decision on Tuesday. Carrie ten Napel recorded the pilot in the canteen of football club VV IJsselmeervogels in Spakenburg. “We are very pleased that the pilot was appreciated by the NPO and that Omroep Max was chosen,” confirms broadcaster Jan Slagter. “The flag can fly in Ermelo,” he refers to Ten Napel’s hometown. “It will be a talk show about current events, without political topics, but with live music.”
Ten Napel still presents the Max evening together with Charles Groenhuijsen On 1. The late talk show on the public channel will stop after this TV season. The last broadcast is scheduled for Thursday, June 13, one day before the European Football Championship starts.
On behalf of AvroTros, Eva Jinek will take care of the 7 p.m. time slot from Monday to Thursday with her new talk show. In the late evening, Sophie Hilbrand and Jeroen Pauw will come there on behalf of BNNVara. At that time, the Friday evening still needs to be filled in. One of the candidates is PowNed, which opted for a pilot.
