Everyone knows them, the successful diaries of Hendrik Groen in which he describes daily life in his nursing home. In one of his most recent works, Rust en Vreugd, the writer exchanged his nursing home for an allotment garden, the performance of which can soon be seen in Castellum!

Hendrik Groen takes on the role of 68-year-old Emma Quaadvliegh. Emma recently lost her husband. While cleaning up, she finds a forgotten registration for a garden shed at Rust en Vreugd. When she takes a look at the garden shed, she immediately falls in love. Emma does not have green fingers, so a caring group of fellow residents comes to her aid.

Garden inspections and infighting manage to ruin the joy in the green paradise, but Emma does not let herself be overlooked. She decides to take action against the many unwritten rules. Despite all the setbacks and Emma’s sadness, she finds her happiness again in the garden.

The performance is performed by a top cast, consisting of Doris Baaten, Wil van der Meer, Sanne Fransen, Linda Wagenmakers and Scott Reniers. Amateurs from local musical and theater associations are also involved.

Rust en Vreugd promises to be a heartwarming and hilarious performance, so be there!

The piece was full of metaphors, full of humor, the characters are recognizable and endearing. As an audience you go home with a warm, joyful feeling.
