British police can seize crypto without arrest

--

In the United Kingdom (UK), a new law has been passed that broadens the powers of the police over crypto. From April 26, British police no longer need to make an arrest before confiscating crypto assets. This makes it possible to intervene immediately when discovering criminal activities related to crypto.

Illegal cryptocurrencies can be transferred by police to wallets under their control. Victims of crime can then file a request to recover these funds. It is notable that the police may also decide to destroy the digital funds if their return to circulation is deemed harmful to the public.
