MAX collaborates with regional broadcasters on various themes. Every Monday a new topic is covered by regional reporters. Below is an overview of the episodes in April.

In Expedition Netherlands reporters from the regional broadcasters report on topics that affect us all, but that provide their own story for each province. Various topics are discussed; from history and culture to current issues and care. Perspectives from fourteen different broadcasters provide a complete picture of the Netherlands as a whole, including the Caribbean Network. What are the differences and similarities between the regions on these themes? How do these differences and similarities shape the Netherlands?

Episode 27 – Monday April 1, 6:30 PM at MAX on NPO 2
The Netherlands is not known abroad for its special cuisine, but the various regions are home to very special and local dishes. This episode tells the story behind these regional specialties. The egg ball is a Groningen delicacy, every chef has his own secret recipe for it.

Episode 28 – Monday April 8, 6:30 PM at MAX on NPO 2
Over the years, we have had to deal with a number of disasters in the Netherlands that still reverberate in our society. How does a community deal with the aftermath of such a tragic event? In 1980, two trains collided in Winsum. Nine people die as a result. Survivors and eyewitnesses of the accident still find it difficult to talk about this.

In this episode we dive into the world of regional animal shelters. We see unconditional love and care for animals of all kinds. There is also a shelter for the smallest animals. They have a real fish shelter in Sliedrecht.

Episode 30 – Monday April 22, 6:30 PM at MAX on NPO 2
In our society more and more people experience feelings of loneliness. Unique initiatives have therefore emerged throughout the country, intended to bring people together and break isolation. Every Thursday a group of people cook together in Assen, and the entire neighborhood can come and eat.

Episode 31 – Monday April 29, 6:30 PM at MAX on NPO 2
The memories of the Second World War are deeply rooted in our communities. In the Casemate Museum in Friesland there is a moving letter that Captain Broers wrote to his two sons just before his death.
