For many Dutch people, the Easter weekend starts on Thursday afternoon. But what weather can we expect during the egg hunt? It won’t be cold, but we don’t have to hope for an abundance of sun either, reports Weeronline.
We are still experiencing some showers on Thursday evening. It will remain dry in most places during the night leading up to Friday. But towards the morning the chance of rain increases again. It cools down to about 7 degrees.
Good Friday starts cloudy and in the morning it rains for a while. We will also experience some showers in the afternoon. Yet the sun breaks through between the showers. It will be about 12 to 15 degrees with wind force 4 to 6.
It will remain changeable for the rest of the weekend. On Saturday we will experience mild and cooler air. It will be 12 to 15 degrees again. The weather is a mix of clouds and sun, with some showers especially in the afternoon.
On Easter Sunday, it is especially a good idea to go outside in the afternoon. Although there is some rain now and then, the sun breaks through, especially in the afternoon. It will also be a bit warmer than on the other days: about 14 to 18 degrees, with a weak to moderate wind.
Easter Monday will not remain dry either. From time to time we experience rain or a few showers. It is also slightly cooler than Sunday with temperatures between 12 or 16 degrees.
Easter comes with lots of birch pollen
Birch pollen may enter the air from the Easter weekend. This is because the birch is blooming “particularly early” this year, Weeronline reports. So if you are allergic to pollen, it is wise to take this into account and, if necessary, take medication on time.
About a million Dutch people suffer from birch pollen, which currently causes many different hay fever complaints. The ash tree is also in bloom, but causes slightly fewer complaints during this period.
After Easter, the massive flowering of the birches continues and you may have complaints during dry periods. But because it rains regularly, the air is regularly washed clean and the inconvenience is not that great. The birches are expected to have finished blooming by mid-April.
