ZEIST A new bus line starts today: a direct shuttle service between the Panbos and Heidestein, especially for gnomes.
This so-called ‘Eikeltjes express’ will have several stops in Zeist, one of which is on the Bergweg, near Kabouter Berry’s house.
Gnome Berry reacts happily to this news: “It is ideal, especially at this time of year when the pigeon taxi is less available. The pigeons are currently very busy building nests and the like. Moreover, it is a lot of fun to travel with my fellow gnomes. So really TOP organised.”
Some additional information about the Eikeltjes express: it runs entirely on wind and solar energy. If only human buses could do that! The route is known among gnomes and the bus will not drive on the normal road. ‘No, that is extremely dangerous,’ says a shaking head Berry.
If you walk along the Bergweg on Easter Monday, you can admire the bus stop and who knows, you might see the acorn express bus driving by in a flash. Although that is difficult, according to Berry: ‘The bus moves so fast that you can hardly see it’. Another request from Berry: “Please leave our bus shelter intact!”
