European Parliament election 2024
The European Parliament election is on Thursday, June 6. Then you can choose who represents you in Europe. You’re going to vote too, aren’t you? Knowing more? Go to westerkwartier.nl/elections
Counts
The municipality of Westerkwartier has decided to count the votes centrally, this means:
On the evening of the vote (6 June), the polling stations only count the votes per list. The votes per candidate are not yet counted.
The Municipal Electoral Station will count the votes per list and per candidate on Friday, June 7 from 8:30 am. We also call this ‘central counting’. The result may not be announced after the count.
The meeting of the municipal polling station for the count takes place in the Topsporthal, De Schelp 35 in Leek.
The location for the follow-up hearing on June 10 and a possible recount of the Municipal Electoral Board (GSB) is:
Leek Town Hall, Tolberterstraat 66 in Leek. All polling station meetings are public.
Branch route spring 2024
The branch route will be ridden again from April 8 to April 12. Participation in the branch route is free. You must register in advance.

You can register until April 3, 5:00 PM. You can register via the online registration form on the westerkwartier.nl/takkenroute page. Can’t register online? Please register by telephone on the general telephone number 14 0594.
Rules of the game
Offer the pruning waste bundled with a maximum length of 1 meter and a maximum weight of 25 kg.
You may offer a maximum of 3 cubic meters per address.
Make sure that your branches are on the road no later than Monday morning, April 8 at 7:00 am.
You can also take your branches to our recycling centers Tweemat and Vagroen throughout the year.
Make your garden a nice place
On Saturday April 20 we will be going tile rocking in Grootegast! Tiles out, green in. In this way, together we ensure a greener and more pleasant Grand Guest! The benefits of tile rocking Every less tile is a gain! Greener gardens provide cooling in hot weather, are more attractive to insects and animals and relieve the sewer during heavy rain showers.
Free greenery in exchange for tiles, this is how it works:
1. Complete the registration form no later than April 14
2. Remove a maximum of five square meters of tiles from your garden
3. The municipality will collect the tiles from your home on April 20
4. Collect free plants and garden soil on April 20
5. Your garden is now a bit greener!
