Quincy Promes must appear in court next week. Then the extradition process against the 32-year-old Amsterdam resident begins, writes RTL Boulevard that has court documents in its possession.

The first hearing would take place on Thursday, May 2. The Netherlands has requested the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to extradite the footballer.

The Public Prosecution Service in Amsterdam has prosecuted Promes twice in recent years. Both criminal cases led to a conviction by the court. In February he was sentenced to six years in prison for involvement in international drug trafficking. In addition, he received a prison sentence of one and a half years in 2023 for stabbing his cousin.

Promes was detained in Dubai earlier this year because he allegedly failed to compensate for damage caused by a traffic accident. The footballer was in the United Arab Emirates due to a training camp with his club Spartak Moscow. He was eventually released, after which the Netherlands quickly requested his arrest and extradition.
