The victim of the fatal accident with a truck on the Haarlemmer Houttuinen is a 16-year-old boy from Amsterdam. He was the driver of the scooter that collided with the truck.
A second adult passenger was injured, but his condition is out of danger, a police spokesperson said.
The accident happened just before 1:30 PM on Tuesday on the Haarlemmer Houttuinen, a street just behind the Haarlemmerstraat in Amsterdam Center. There, a scooter and a truck collided just after the intersection with Oranjestraat. The victim was resuscitated on the spot, but to no avail. He died on the spot from his injuries.
The truck driver was interviewed by the police as a person involved. That is standard procedure in the event of a fatal accident. The police are still investigating the circumstances.
