School football groups 5 and 6 postponed: Fields vv Harkstede soaking wet

The school football tournament for groups 5 and 6 from schools in the Harkstede, Slochteren and Menterwolde region was not played this afternoon at Sportpark Hamstede of vv Harkstede. “The fields were soaking wet, it was cold and the weather forecast did not help,” says Albert Koers of vv Harkstede. “That’s why we canceled it this morning.” There would be 19 mixed and 5 girls in action.

Koers says that it is still the intention that this tournament will be played. “But without the possibility of participating in the follow-up finals of the KNVB.”

End of May, first half of June

vv Harkstede still has to choose a day. “We are now thinking about the end of May or the first half of June. It has to suit the club and the necessary volunteers. We hope the weather will not be a spoilsport by then.”

Girls team

Obs Menterhorn would participate today with no fewer than 3 mixed teams. CBS De Wegwijzer from Zuidbroek with 2 and Dorpsschool Meeden and obs Inspector America from Noordbroek with 1 mixed team. The Noordbroekster school would also take action with a girls’ team.

Last Wednesday, students from the two oldest groups already took action in Harkstede. Obs Menterhorn 1 from Muntendam lost the final to obs Groenewei from Meerstad 4-2.
