BARNEVELD/VOORTHUIZEN After a summer day, the weather in the Barneveld region changed around 5:30 PM on Thursday. Large hailstones fell in Barneveld, Voorthuizen and Lunteren, among others. It is not yet known whether they caused damage.

All kinds of photos and videos are circulating on social media. Several people were surprised by the storm. For example, a mother reports that her thirteen-year-old daughter has never seen such large hailstones. “What hailstones. You will get them on your head,” a Barneveld resident responds.

FLOODING There are also reports of verandas, balconies and streets being flooded. A lot of rain seems to have fallen, especially in Voorthuizen.

CODE YELLOW The KNMI warned this morning about the showers, which are locally accompanied by gusts of wind, hail and lots of rain. Code Geel applies to the Barneveld region until Thursday evening at 11 p.m.
