Preparations for the Brabant Liberation Festival 2024 are in full swing. With more than 20 artists on three different stages and a rich side program, the festival promises to be a lively May 5 celebration at the Pettelaarse Schans in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. After several challenging years, the organization hopes for a successful edition with good weather and high visitor numbers.

Stage for freedom

Liberation Festival Brabant annually offers a place for artists and visitors to celebrate freedom together with special performances, lectures and meetings. On May 5, FLEMMING, Children for Children Next, Balkan Paradise Orchestra, Prins S. and De Geit, BLANKS and Lov3less will be on the festival grounds in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In addition to the many performances and festivities, the vulnerability of freedom is also discussed during an extensive literary program, the annual Freedom Lunch, games, workshops and other activities related to the theme.

Stronger together

This year too, the Brabant Liberation Festival and other liberation festivals in the Netherlands are facing financial challenges. Due to unfavorable weather at previous editions and other setbacks, the festivals have suffered a dent in their reserves. The government has released a one-off support package of one million euros for this year, which will allow all festivals to go ahead this year. However, there are still concerns about the financial future. The Liberation Festivals will continue to discuss with each other and with the national government in the near future to see how the festivals can continue to exist in the long term. In addition, visitors play an important role in continuity. Liberation Festival Brabant therefore encourages everyone to come and celebrate freedom together on May 5 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, or somewhere else in the country, in order to continue organizing accessible and inclusive festivals for everyone.
