Anouk (17) from Dalen is going for Miss Curve Netherlands 2024. ‘I’m mainly going to enjoy it’

She struggled with (social) fears, sadness and insecurity for a long time. “I was bullied because I was not slim and therefore became insecure about my body,” she says. “I didn’t really accept myself, but then my mother saw the beauty pageant on Facebook. She asked if that would be something for me.”

Anouk had to think carefully, but ultimately wanted to give it a chance for her own development and self-confidence. She has also overcome this fear. “I did well with the other girls who participated. Since the casting day in Emmeloord, we have been meeting every Saturday to practice for the final on Saturday, May 18. This will also be held in Emmeloord.”

‘You’ll get there in the end’

The final consists of a proposal round, bikini round, gala round and an English speech round, in which the finalists talk about their own theme. “I’m going to talk about never giving up. Fight your fear and insecurity, because you will get there in the end.” The final winner can represent the Netherlands to the global title battle in the United States.

“I will especially enjoy May 18 in Emmeloord and am proud that I can be there at all. In any case, there is no envy among the girls, because we wish each other success. This has given me some nice friends,” says Anouk, who is training to become a teaching assistant at the Alfa College in Hardenberg.

“I would like to become a teacher in primary education through further training in primary education. I have had that goal in mind for a long time, because children make me happy.”

Seventeen girls are going for the title Miss Curve Netherlands 2024; Anouk is also the only candidate from Drenthe.
