In the Netherlands, the general public mainly knows Pommelien Thijs from the hit Now that we don’t talk anymoreher collaboration with Meau and her role as Louise in the Netflix series Knock off. In her own country she scores hit after hit and her fan base is so large that her club tour in the Netherlands is also sold out, from Maastricht to Groningen.

What stands out during her shows is the intense reaction of the audience when she sings her biggest hit in our country. The first line of Now that we don’t talk anymore is: ‘Do you still sing along to Marco’s songs?’ When Thijs then holds her microphone towards the audience, a loud and massive ‘no’ follows. Whether it is at her show in Weert or in Utrecht. The images have now gone viral on TikTok. For example, a clip from the show in Weert, which also shows Thijs himself laughing at the audience’s reaction, can count on more than 10,000 likes in 24 hours.

The reason for the disapproving reaction of the Belgian pop star’s audience is easy to guess. Marco Borsato is currently being prosecuted for indecent assault, for which a woman (22 at the time) filed a report in December 2021. The woman claims that she was groped by the now 57-year-old singer when she was a minor, between 2014 and 2019, and filed a report for ‘lewd acts’. It is still unclear when the substantive case will be heard.
