Britney Spears has reached a settlement in the legal battle with her father Jamie Spears. The American Fox News reports that the settlement has finally put an end to the case surrounding the guardianship of the singer after two years.
Details of the settlement were not disclosed. Spears’ lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, said in a statement that the singer’s wish to be free has “really been fulfilled.” The lawyer says that with the settlement, Spears no longer has to be involved in lawsuits and procedures related to the handling of the guardianship.
Rosengart also says that he enjoyed his business with the now 42-year-old singer. “It was our honor and privilege to represent, protect and defend Britney Spears,” he said.
Spears had been under her father’s guardianship since 2008 after a nervous breakdown in 2007. That financial supervision came to an end in 2021 after a high-profile lawsuit.
