Dutch people once again visited the residential boulevard en masse on Easter Monday this year. Interior design chain Jysk and Intratuin saw many customers due to the good garden weather. Furniture for the garden or on the balcony is very popular.

Interior design chain Jysk noticed that it was busier in the afternoon this year than last year. Lounge sets for the garden or smaller sets for the balcony are especially popular.

Last year it was different. The gardening season started later due to bad weather. “This year the temperatures are higher and we see that we are already selling many more garden items,” says Jysk. “We are very satisfied with the run-up and are already cautiously looking back on a successful Easter weekend.”

Intratuin also saw many customers due to the “good garden weather”. “You see that customers mainly buy a lot of plants,” says a spokesperson. But garden furniture is also very popular among visitors. According to Intratuin, it is “gradually busy” without “extreme peaks”.

Over the years, IKEA has seen 25 to 30 percent more visitors on Easter Monday than on a normal Saturday. Today, many visitors use the restaurant relatively often, “which indicates a day out,” says a spokesperson.

“On a day like Easter Monday, we see no other notable consumer behavior,” the home furnishings group said. Drinking glasses, resealable bags and clothes hangers remain very popular.

At the Villa ArenA residential mall in Amsterdam, near the Johan Cruijff ArenA, it was busier than it has been in the past five years on Easter Monday. “Nice and busy,” the spokesperson described the day. Visitors could, among other things, have a conversation with an interior stylist, who helped them with questions about the design of their home.

Outlet centers popular on Easter Sunday

In addition to residential boulevards, the Dutch also know their way to outlet centers. On Easter Sunday it was “more than average busy” at the outlet centers in Roermond and Roosendaal.

Sunday’s drizzly weather helped. “Here people can take shelter in a shop or restaurant. Instead of looking for eggs, they go on a bargain hunt,” explained the spokesperson for the parent company of the outlet centers.
