The Japanese town of Fujikawaguchiko will install a gigantic black screen to shield the view of the famous Mount Fuji. The measure is intended to combat the nuisance caused by foreign tourists.

“It is unfortunate that we have to do this because some tourists are not following the rules,” said a city official.

The screen will be located at a popular viewpoint on the mountain. The mountain rises right above a grocery store of the Lawson chain, which is common in Japan.

Mount Fuji is a 3,776 meter high volcano, making it the highest mountain in Japan.

Measures are also being taken in other places in the country against mass tourism, which Japan is increasingly experiencing. In March this year, the country attracted more than three million foreign tourists in one month for the first time.
