Yesterday it was announced that Croatia, Ukraine, Ireland, Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia, Lithuania, Finland, Cyprus and Luxembourg have advanced to the final. Joost will have to do his best during the second semi-final on Thursday to get enough votes from the public.

Missing

The big question is of course what exactly we will see during his performance. With a series of photos on his Instagram, he seems to have given us a glimpse of the mystery, although we are not much wiser. The singer posts a photo of himself with the blue bird, holding a photo that says ‘missing, have you seen this bird?’

Preview

We also see a photo of Joost in which he suddenly looks different than we are used to, he is wearing blue horns, a black leather suit and is crouched with his gaze downwards. ‘Trust the process’ so he writes. There’s a good chance that the artist is already giving us a taste of what we can expect. He previously indicated that he would show something that ‘had never been done before’.

Criticism

Joost will have to pull out all the stops, because since his first rehearsal in Malmö he has fallen considerably with the bookmakers. Previously he had a fifteen percent chance of winning, but that percentage is now five percent. Many people expressed disappointment that he suddenly appeared with a blue bird. This would make him seem unserious and probably be seen as just another ‘crazy act’. It is not clear whether blue bird is a diversionary maneuver or whether it will actually be visible later.
