The woman’s action was captured and the video footage is circulating on the internet. The animal threatened to wash ashore, but bathers at Zandvoort were able to turn the beaked whale towards the sea.

Once the beaked whale was free from the sand and swam in the right direction again, a woman a few feet away in the water grabbed her moment. She grabs the whale with her arms and by putting a leg over it, she wanted to let herself be carried away with the animal. With a “act normal,” the bystanders tried to get her off the animal. Then the dolphin could try to find its way back to the deep ocean.
