Go Ahead Eagles has formally terminated the contracts of Gerrit Nauber, Erwin Mulder and Aventis Aventisian. In addition, the Deventer football club has removed the option from Philippe Rommens’ contract, keeping him committed until mid-2025.
Rommens’ contract ran until the summer of 2024, but the club had the option to extend the contract for another year. Go Ahead Eagles took advantage of this, and the Belgian is now under contract until 2025. It is not obvious that he will actually play in Deventer until then, because the midfielder has the ambition to take a step up next summer.

The expiring contracts of Nauber, Mulder and Aventisian have been formally terminated, because the club must notify this before April 1. In the case of Nauber and Mulder, this does not necessarily mean that they leave, because the club is still discussing the future with these players. Aventisian, who is currently on loan for NK Jarun Zagreb in Croatia, will not return to Go Ahead Eagles. He can look for a new club.
April 1, what’s going on in football again?
Players who are no longer in their first contract with a football club and have an expiring contract must receive clarity before April 1. If this does not happen, the contract will be automatically extended. It is expected that PEC Zwolle will only make decisions if the club is assured of another year of the Premier League. Players may receive formal notice of termination, but later re-sign.
