Dutch team tease Sinner continues to win: semi-finalist in Miami

Jannik Sinner has reached the semi-finals of the masters tournament in Miami. The number three in the world, who won the Australian Open and the ABN Amro Open this year, was too strong for Tomas Machac 6-4, 6-2.

It is the third time that the Italian has reached the semi-finals in Miami, where he lost the finals in 2021 and 2023

Sinner is again impressive this tournament. He has only lost one set so far and that was against Tallon Greekspor.

Sinner is a real pest for the Netherlands. He won against Greekspor in Miami, just like in the semi-finals in Rotterdam. He also defeated Van de Zandschulp twice this year: at the Australian Open and in Rotterdam.

To make matters worse, the Dutch Davis Cup team drew a group last week that also included title holder Italy, which means that Sinner will again appear on the other side of the net.

In the first set, Sinner did not start well against Machac. He even fell behind by a break against the Czech. Then the game turned and the Italian ended up winning five games in a row. In the semi-finals he will meet Daniil Medvedev, who was too strong for Nicolás Jarry.

For the women, Danielle Collins reached the semi-finals, just like in 2018. The American number 53 in the world won 6-3, 6-2 against Caroline Garcia, the French number 27 in the world.

The 30-year-old Collins is in her final season. The American has been struggling with the chronic diseases rheumatism and endometriosis for years, but nevertheless reached seventh place in the world rankings and was in the final of the Australian Open in 2022.

Collins is making a big impression in Miami. She has now won ten sets in a row and lost only nineteen games. Garcia was broken at 4-3 in the first set and was unable to make a fist in the second set, partly due to shoulder complaints.
