Per Strand Hagenes will appear in the Volta NXT Classic on Saturday, and that is striking to say the least. Last Friday, the 20-year-old Norwegian suffered a broken nose in the E3 Saxo Classic.

The new edition of RIDE Magazine is now available! Our new 188-page spring edition is full of wonderful cycling stories about Mathieu van der Poel, Lotte Kopecky, Demi Vollering, Sepp Kuss and Matej Mohoric. Hagenes is part of the final selection of Visma | Lease a Bike for the 1.1 race, scheduled for March 30. The experienced Belgians Julien Vermote and Tosh Van der Sande are also part of the seven, which implies that we should at least not expect them a day later in the Tour of Flanders.

Also present: Pietro Mattio, Morten Nørtoft, Tom Schellekens and Colby Simmons, all four riders from the Visma | Lease a Bike Development Team.

It is not yet known whether Hagenes – who traveled back to his family in Norway after the E3 Saxo Classic to recover – will rejoin the classic core of the team after the Volta NXT Classic. He could still take action in, for example, Paris-Roubaix.
