The bankruptcy of tennis legend Boris Becker has been lifted. The German has reached an agreement with his creditors, his lawyer reported on Thursday.

“As a result of an agreement with his administrators, Boris Becker’s bankruptcy, which began in 2017, was legally terminated by a decision of the High Court in London,” Becker’s lawyer said.

The former world number one was declared bankrupt on June 21, 2017 over an unpaid £3.5 million loan on his estate in Mallorca. He then allegedly deliberately transferred money to another account to thwart the curator.

In addition, Becker is said to have hidden four Grand Slam trophies won (1985 and 1989 Wimbledon and 1991 and 1996 Australian Open) and his 1992 Olympic gold medal.

Becker was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison in April 2022 for concealing assets. He was released in December of that year and transferred to Germany. Becker was eligible for deportation because, as a non-Briton, he was given a prison sentence of more than twelve months.
