Moto3 driver Collin Veijer has won a Grand Prix for the second time. At the Jerez circuit in Spain he led almost the entire race and kept David Muñoz behind him in the final lap.
Six riders, including Veijer, quickly formed a leading group. Missing from pole was David Alonso, who crashed on the first lap, and Daniel Holgado, the leader in the World Cup standings, who was penalized after qualifying and had to start from eighteenth.
The six became a quartet and in the last lap only Muñoz was still on Veijer’s rear wheel. The Spaniard pushed hard, but Veijer, who won the Malaysian GP last year, did not budge.
Bagnaia strongest in MotoGP
Francesco Bagnaia took his second victory of the season in Jerez in the MotoGP. The Italian stayed ahead of Marc Máquez and Marco Bezzecchi.
Six-time MotoGP champion Márquez, on pole for Ducati for the first time, had a great start. Already in the second lap, Jorge Martín and Bagnaia passed him and a little later Bezzecchi also proved to be too fast.
Martín and Bagnaia took distance, but on lap eleven classification leader Martín crashed. Máquez passed Bezzecchi on lap fourteen and closed the gap to Bagnaia.
In the last five laps he took over the lead twice in a fierce battle, but both times Bagnaia immediately struck back.
