Ipswich Town returns to the highest level in England after 22 years. The stunt team, which was promoted to the Championship last season, won 2-0 against Huddersfield Town and thus secured second place, which entitles them to direct promotion to the Premier League. Close attacker Leeds United took on Southampton at the same time. Everything went excellently for Ipswich: the team quickly took the lead thanks to Wes Burns, while Leeds United fell behind 1-2 shortly afterwards.

When Omari Hutchinson made it 2-0 early in the second half, things couldn’t have gone wrong for Ipswich. Without too many problems, McKenna’s team managed to secure Premier League football in the 2024/25 season. Ipswich last played at the highest level in England in the 2001/02 season.
This means that Leeds must try to gain promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs. The team, just like Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City, is competing for the third and final promotion ticket. Although Leicester City lost to Blackburn on Saturday afternoon, they were already assured of the championship.
Due to the defeat, Huddersfield has been officially relegated. The team needed a miracle to maintain itself, but descended to the third level of England. Rotherham and Birmingham have also been relegated to League One.
