Martin Brundle says that Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull Racing is not only based on the recent unrest within the team, but that the 65-year-old top designer has been thinking about doing something different for some time.

Adrian Newey has resigned from Red Bull Racing and will officially leave the team in the first quarter of 2025. Until then, the master designer will focus on completing the RB17: Red Bull’s first hypercar. The 65-year-old Briton – although he will still be present during a number of race weekends – officially no longer works for the Formula 1 team with immediate effect, and this means that his mandatory leave of twelve months before he starts working for a competitor you can hit even if it’s running.

Future Newey

It is still unknown whether he will join another Formula 1 team next year or whether he will say goodbye to the premier class. In any case, Martin Brundle believes he knows that the Brit’s departure is not only due to the unrest within Red Bull Racing: “I know Adrian quite well and this move has been on his mind for a while,” he said. Sky Sports F1. “It almost happened a few years ago, and he has obviously been approached by other teams for decades because of his successes.”

Reason behind leaving
