Dick Schreuder is increasingly mentioned as a possible successor to Arne Slot at Feyenoord. In conversation with The Stentor the 52-year-old coach, who won the title last Sunday with CD Castellón at the third level of Spain, says that he would find it difficult to say ‘no’ to Feyenoord.

Schreuder has tried to isolate himself from the rumors as much as possible. “Because I want to do my job well here. But eventually I couldn’t avoid it anymore. More and more people from the Netherlands started sending me those kinds of messages. Just as there is also interest in me in Spain. That’s good for you, of course. But I just feel very good here, at this club.”

Schreuder knows that it is very difficult to turn down Feyenoord, if the cup winner indeed reports to him as Slot’s successor. “That is of course very difficult. But that applies to every top 3 club in the Netherlands. Or any club. And what comes, comes. But at the moment none of that matters. That is why we are going to proceed quietly here first.”

The season with CD Catellón is not over yet. “Besides the fact that there are still three matches to go, we still play for the Supercup against the champion from the other group. That could well be Deportivo La Coruna. Very important, there is also a price. Then we’ll see what happens,” he concludes.
