WOKING (ANP/RTR) – Lando Norris is confident that he can compete for the Formula 1 world title with McLaren next year. He said this at Sky Sports during a meeting at the factory of the British racing stable. There, Norris and the team celebrated last Sunday’s victory in the Miami Grand Prix.

“At the beginning of this year I said we could win races and I now dare to say that next year we can compete for the title, 100 percent. I have a great team behind me and we are closer than ever. faith and confidence to say that we are ready for the next step.”

Norris won his first grand prix last Sunday. He defeated three-time world champion Max Verstappen, the Red Bull driver who has already won four races this year and leads the championship. It was the first victory for McLaren since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix. It has been much longer since McLaren won the world title. That was in 2008 with Lewis Hamilton.

“I am now a race winner and that will change something. I want to win more races and I think it is possible,” said Norris. “I think it can still be an exciting season between Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren. I have a lot of respect for Max, but I want to challenge him. I want to race against one of the best drivers ever in Formula 1.”
