Google may be planning to launch three different Pixel 9 models this year. This is claimed by well-known leaker OnLeaks. In addition to a Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, a Pro XL variant would also appear. OnLeaks also publishes the first renders of the ‘regular’ Pixel 9.
The Pixel 9 renders, which the leaker publishes in collaboration with 91mobiles, show that the dimensions of the smartphone are 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5 millimeters. The Pixel 9 is said to be 12mm thick at its thickest point because the camera strip on the back protrudes slightly. Unlike the Pixel 8, that camera strip no longer runs across the entire width of the back of the device.
The Pixel 9 reportedly has a screen with a diagonal of approximately 6.03″. The screen of the Pixel 8 has a diagonal of 6.2″ and is therefore larger. At the top center of the screen there is said to be a punch-hole for a selfie camera. The power and volume buttons would be placed on the right side of the frame, just like on the Google Pixel 8.
91Mobiles has not shared concrete specifications, but believes that the smartphone will be equipped with Adaptive Touch. This is a screen technology that can make the touch-sensitive panel of the Pixel 9 more sensitive. This way the screen can continue to function in certain conditions, such as rain. The Pixel 9 is also said to support the Qi2 standard. This allows the smartphone to charge wirelessly at 15W.
OnLeaks shared renders of the upcoming Google Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL in January this year. The leaker then thought that this concerned the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. Those images show that Google is using the same updated design language for those devices, including flat sides and a new camera strip. The Pixel 9 Pro would have a 6.1″ screen, while the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL would have a 6.5″ screen. The Pixel 9 devices should be released in the second half of 2024, although the exact release date is not yet known.
