A fifth of crypto investors started in the past 15 months. Yet not everyone is convinced of the ‘new gold’. If people have a choice, less than 6 percent choose bitcoin, half go for gold and the rest have no preference. This is evident from research by Investors.nl
Despite enormous price jumps and major breakthroughs, the Dutch remain skeptical about cryptocurrencies. The research shows that 29 percent of respondents have no confidence in crypto as an investment, and 27 percent have little confidence. And 63.7 percent of respondents indicate that they do not invest in crypto and will never do so.
The main reason most people indicate is that they simply do not have enough knowledge about it (36%). 22.5 percent are not confident in a positive return or do not know how to do this safely (13.5%). Furthermore, 14.1 percent think they do not have enough money to make the investment.
Yet the number of investors is growing. Of the people surveyed who invest in cryptos, one in five started doing so in the past year or this year. Of these, one in five even started in the first two months of 2024. This appears to be creating a new group of crypto investors.
