AMSTERDAM (ANP) – The Public Prosecution Service on Friday demanded fifteen years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment against 36-year-old Nuri Ö., for the murder of 25-year-old Rens and an attempted manslaughter of his 29-year-old roommate. According to the justice department, the two men were unexpectedly attacked in their own home on Robert Scottsstraat in Amsterdam-West on August 1 last year.

The suspect allegedly stabbed Rens to death with a large kitchen knife in his bedroom, “in a gruesome manner”, according to the public prosecutor. The housemate who rushed over got into a fight with the man, was seriously injured and eventually managed to flee the house. The alerted police were able to arrest the suspect on the spot. “An indescribable drama,” said the officer.

The suspect began to applaud during the officer’s speech and then collided with the chairman, who ordered him to remain silent. Then Ö. did not want to remain silent, the chairman sent him out of the room. When he left the room, there was a brief skirmish between the suspect and the public prosecutor’s office, who escorted him to the cell block of the courthouse. As a result, the man was unable to hear the demand himself.
