Tourists in Thailand may be able to gamble legally in the future. The government of the Asian country is considering allowing casinos. This should provide additional tourism and reduce the number of illegal gambling companies.

The latter is a major problem in the country. There are illegal casinos and lotteries in many places and you can gamble on sporting events, for example. The Thai government is struggling to get this under control.

Legal gambling could attract wealthy tourists to the country. The Thai economy already relies heavily on tourism and the country hopes to attract even more travelers with the measure. This year the country expects 40 million. The change in law can also create many jobs.

Currently in Thailand you are only allowed to gamble on lottery and horse races organized by the state. But parliament has backed a proposal to investigate whether legal casinos are a good idea. These gambling halls should be located in large centers where kickboxing matches and concerts also take place.
