Air Force One passengers are being warned

--

The White House is ready with journalists and other guests taking home items aboard Air Force One planes.

Last month, an email was sent to people who have recently been invited to fly on a US Air Force VC-25A. In the email they were reminded that they are supposed to leave all objects on board as they found them. Taking such objects with you is not permitted, despite the belief that this is the case in many cases.

For years, journalists and others who were allowed to fly on one of the planes secretly packed all kinds of items in their bags, ranging from engraved whiskey and wine glasses to almost anything with the Air Force One logo on it. A senator also reportedly took “anything that wasn’t secured” with him while traveling on the presidential plane. The White House indicates that there are alternatives to be able to look back on the flight: ‘A photo of yourself under the colossal aircraft or a certificate of your first flight, which the Air Force will be happy to produce and send to you by post, is also fine’.

Beach items

Commercial airlines also suffer from theft. This mainly concerns airline items such as blankets, pillows, cutlery and safety cards. Blankets and pillows are often taken to vacation destinations, where they function as beach items. The objects are not always taken as souvenirs, but occasionally end up on online auction sites.

Cost

Airlines, such as Lufthansa, see passenger interest as a compliment, but are less happy with the unwanted, higher costs of purchasing new equipment. United previously took measures to combat the increasing theft of blankets and pillows. The company was unable to maintain stock levels.
