Tibor del Grosso finished second in the second stage of the Tour de Bretagne. The Dutchman from Alpecin-Deceuninck Development, who we mainly know as a cyclo-cross rider, narrowly stayed clear of the peloton after 206 kilometers after a late attack. Alexis Guerin had already been in for ten seconds. The Frenchman won the stage and is also the new leader.

After Tim Torn Teutenberg won the opening stage on Thursday, the Tour de Bretagne continued with a long stage from Milizac-Guipronvel to Pontivy. Five local laps had to be held around that last place. The ten kilometer loop included the Fontaine Feret (2.5 km at 4.7%).

On this local circuit, Guerin had jumped to early escapee Baptiste Veistoffer. The Philippe Wagner/Bazin rider then immediately left the tired Veistoffer behind and started a solo of more than thirty kilometers. The peloton came close in the final phase, but Guerin would hold on.

Behind the eventual winner, Del Grosso had accelerated on the last climb of the day. He was no longer able to retrace the leader, but he stayed ahead of the peloton, albeit narrowly. Vlad Van Mechelen arrived just too late to snatch second place from the Dutchman.
