From Sunday, recreational aircraft and private jets will be extra checked to see whether they adhere to the agreed flight times at Schiphol. The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) will mainly check whether they fly unauthorized at night and thus cause noise pollution for local residents.
The ILT’s focus is therefore not on regular commercial aviation, but on other flights. They make up 2 to 3 percent of all flights at Schiphol. These flights must also stick to their slots (available time and place for take-off and landing).
The intention is for ACNL, the organization that distributes slots, to report violations to the ILT regulator.
“Depending on the seriousness of the violation, the ILT can, for example, issue a warning, impose an administrative fine or an order subject to penalty,” the regulator reports. A spokesperson for the ILT cannot provide any amounts. According to her, a measure depends, among other things, on intent or the seriousness of the violation.
After the summer season, the ILT will expand its control to Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Eindhoven Airport, where it already monitors the misuse of slots in commercial aviation.
