Taylor Swift can now call herself a billionaire. The American singer makes her debut on Forbes’ annual super-rich list, which was published on Tuesday. The business magazine estimates the singer’s fortune at $1.1 billion. Forbes writes that 34-year-old Swift is the first musician to become a billionaire solely through her songs and performances.

The magazine calls Swift ‘the most famous newcomer’ on the rich list. At position 2545, she is one of the 265 new billionaires. She did good business with her music last year and could call herself the best-selling artist of 2023. And that was certainly not the first time, because the music icon also topped this list in 2014, 2019 and 2022. No other artist has achieved this special feat before.

Swift’s cash register is also ringing loudly with The Eras Tour. She is the first artist ever to generate a turnover of more than one billion dollars (965 million euros) with a concert tour. Elton John was the previous record holder. With his farewell shows he raised 939 million euros, although his concert series lasted five years. By comparison, Sir Elton performed 328 times for that staggering amount, while Swift only needed ten months and 60 shows.

In addition, Pollstar calculated that Swifties, fans of the American hit machine, spend an average of 40 euros on its merchandise. That is also good for more than 200 million dollars. Her Eras Tour film is the most successful concert film of all time, grossing more than a quarter of a billion dollars.

According to the business magazine, there are now more billionaires worldwide than ever: 2,781. There are 141 more than last year and 26 more than in the previous record year of 2021. France’s Bernard Arnault tops the list with an estimated fortune of $233 billion. The CEO of luxury group LVMH, known for the fashion brands Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior, is therefore the richest man in the world, according to Forbes.

Tesla boss Elon Musk and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos follow in second and third place with assets of $195 and $194 billion respectively.
