Patrick van Veen stops working for the RTL4 program Married at first sight. As a love expert, Van Veen had an important role in matching couples who say yes to each other without ever having seen each other. Expert Radboud Visser is also quitting, reports RTL.
According to RTL, Van Veen and Visser have chosen to no longer be associated with the program as experts. “We thank him for his expertise over the past few seasons and wish him the best of luck with his next steps,” a spokesperson said.
Last week it became clear that only one couple out of seven chose to remain married, Jeppe and Jantine. During the recordings, a discussion arose between Van Veen and producer ITV about the matching process. “Unfortunately it didn’t go so well,” he said Veronica Super guide. According to Van Veen, the editors of the program steered him ‘in a certain direction when making a match’. “The matches are made by the experts themselves. Both Patrick and Radboud emphasize this themselves in the last episode. The editors therefore have no influence on this,” RTL responds.
On Tuesday, presenter Carlo Boszhard wrote in his column Television that his belief in finding a solution together with the experts was ‘great’. ‘Of course things can and should be better and that is why I hope for a reliable new method of attraction. That does not immediately bring us love, of course, but perhaps more passion. And it is with the same passion that I will enter the tenth season next year with the team and experts.’
Sexologist Eveline Stallaart and relationship coach Anne Campagne will remain as experts, while a replacement for Van Veen and Visser is still being sought.
