Nicol Kremers’ abuse case against her ex-boyfriend Peter Gillis will most likely be joined by a second case against the holiday park millionaire. This concerns forgery, which can also carry a hefty prison sentence.

The Public Prosecution Service confirms this to this site, after rumors that Gillis (the protagonist of the SBS’ reality soap Mass is cash register) must appear in court for more than just the alleged abuse of Nicol. The case of alleged forgery, which actually means deliberately falsifying documents, is separate from the Nicol case. The fact that both cases will be dealt with simultaneously in court has a more practical reason: why plan two different hearings if it can be done in one go?

The date for the hearing is delayed, partly because of this expansion. The Public Prosecution Service says that the investigation is ‘in a final phase’. It is not yet clear what exactly the charges against Gillis will be. Nicol reported ten cases of abuse from the period when she had a relationship with Gillis. It was already certain that Gillis would have to appear in court for at least one case, but that was postponed because Nicol significantly expanded the declaration. It is still unclear how many cases of abuse Gillis now has to appear in court for.

Nicol Kremers is assisted by victim lawyer Sébas Diekstra. When asked, he stated that he did not wish to comment substantively on the abuse case at this time. However, he does indicate, after recent contact with the judiciary, that he expects that ‘there will only be more clarity about the follow-up to the criminal case at the end of May at the earliest’.

Gillis is a regular in court

62-year-old Peter Gillis is now used to going to court. The owner of the Oostappen Group is also on trial in a major tax fraud case, which was the subject of a hearing earlier this month. His fight with Nicol Kremers has also kept some judges busy. For example, both fought in court whether Nicol Kremers could publish a book about her life, in which she also cited the abuse. Gillis even seized her accounts to bring her to her knees. That legal battle ended in a draw for the time being: Gillis was not given access to the book, but Nicol is no longer allowed to say anything in public about domestic violence. Nicol then decided to postpone the publication of her book because of all the emotions.

Gillis was also recently taken to court because he refused to pay the overtime of an overworked employee. The man, catering manager Samir, also known Mass is cash registereven got sick because he says he had to continue working with pneumonia.
